Victory!!!

For the first time I have claimed victory in Civ 5. It happen on 9/24/15, and it happen exactly how I wanted it too, Military Conquest. Victory was achieved over the two other civilizations in my game, Indonesia and India. What gave me the edge over these two civilizations was that I was more technologically advanced then they were. I also had the edge when it came to military size, as I had built up my military in preparation for military conquest. (Which is what I had planed to do from the start) I even accomplished my other goal of getting my society to become an Aristocracy! I was very happy about that. However, by the time I  my civilization became an aristocracy, India had already been conquered and the war with Indonesia was in its final stages. So, sadly I did not get much time to enjoy being an aristocracy. Obviously, now that victory has been achieved I must start over from the very beginning. I will still play as Germany (for reasoned mentioned in an earlier post) and I will still pursue an aggressive research policy so I can become an Aristocracy as soon as possible. Also like last time, I will aim for victory be military conquest. Indeed the only thing that will really change will be the size of the map and the difficulty level. Also, I think I shall have 3 other civilizations (not counting my own) to fight against this time. I will also make sure that the 3 civilizations are all European in origin this time. Other then the above mentioned changes my goals and my overall imperialist strategy shall remain the same. Long live the Great German Empire! Long Live the Chancellor!

Time to Expand!
(official post 1 on Population)

In Civ 5 population obviously plays a huge role. Indeed, I found that I really couldn't start playing the game or make much progress without first increasing population. The population very slow to grow in the beginning, which make sense because there was not really a huge supply of food to begin with. This I think is pretty true when it comes to real life civilizations through out history, they really could not take off and grow without first securing a stable food supply. In this respect I feel the game is accurate. Once I was able to produce a worker (which took a while) I immediately set the worker to clearing away some forest which would produce more production points, so I could build more workers in (slightly) less time. Once I had another worker I immediately began to build farms. The farms lead to more food which lead to more population. The increase in population lead me to produce more workers who I had produce more farms and clear away more forest for more production points. It did not take too long of repeating this process before my population finally had a boom.

Aside, from building farms to increase food production, to my knowledge (as of now) there is really no other way to control population. It will just keep growing little by little with each turn. As of this moment I am really not for sure if population can decrease or not. If not, then the game is definitely not accurate on this point. As we have seen through out history, populations do decrease due to natural disasters such as famine, harsh weather/climate, disease. As well as through man made disasters such as war. It is for events as those listed above that the game does not account for. As for the effect that the population increase had on my civilizations' historic trajectory, as my population grew not only did I produce workers, but I also produced military units and settlers. I would then send out the settlers and the military units in order to establish new cities, with the soldiers to defend said new cities. The founding of new cities thus increased my empire's territory. A must in order to serve my imperial ambitions. Long live the Great German Empire! Long live the Chancellor!

Civ 5 Project 2015

My initial experience with Civ. 5 was mixed at best. I had trouble playing the game at first and I found the speed of the game to be a little show. I especially had trouble when it came to gaining a bigger population and my first attempted at laying siege to a city-state ended in a costly failure. However, I eventually got use to the game and things are going smoothly this time around. With my civilization slowly expanding and getting bigger with more cities. As well as a boom in population. I am also proud to say that I conquered my first city-state! Which, will be the first of many, as I plain to aim for a domination victory in the long-run. I know that it is not required to conquer city-states but in order to expand my empire it will be inevitable.

As for the civilization I have chosen, I had decided from the very beginning that I would play as Germany under Otto Von Bismarck. I decided on this from the very beginning because I have always felt that though out history Germany has been one of the most Nationalistic and Militaristic countries in history, though not as much nowadays. Though there is still nationalism. Due to my love and high respect for the values of Nationalism and Militarism, choosing Germany was to me an obvious chose. One of the things that I am currently looking forward to in the game is advancing to the Industrial Age, where I have noticed that you get to choose an official ideology. I already have my ideology picked out, Autocracy. I am so anxious and excited to become an Autocracy, as I feel it fits perfectly with the two things I love and value highly, mentioned earlier above, that I have been aggressively perusing progress. I am already in the Medevil Age! One thing I can state for sure is that once my civilization becomes an Autocracy, I will declare war on any civilization based on the ideology of Order, as I have noticed that this (Order) is based completely on communism. So, I will declare war out of principle! (As I am very anti-communist and anti-marxist)
